Havesalen er Amalienborgmuseets største rum og bliver derfor brugt til museets særudstillinger. Det er blandt andet i dette rum, at kronprinsesse Marys brudekjole blev udstillet.
Herman Wilhelm Bissen was a Danish sculptor. Amongst his most famous works are the statue of Adam Oehlenschläger (1854-61) in front of the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, the Isted Lion, erected in Flensburg in 1862, currently at the Tøjhusmuseet (the Royal Danish Arsenal Museum) in Copenhagen, and the equestrian statue of Frederik VII in front of Christiansborg Castle.
The painting by Lauritz Tuxen of Christian IX and his family was made between the years 1883-6. It was painted during the so-called "Fredensborg days".
